Some of my preparatory design development for commencing a project on Chinese Imperial Robe inspired sculpture, looking at the symbolism and structure of the embroidery to be translated into steel metal. As I am working alongside a chinese native, I am soaking up the culture with every means possible; the man himself, chinese calligraphy study, scouring the vast book shelfs, to seeing beautiful costumes of Puccini's 'Turandot' at the Florence New opera house, all accumulating to design and embroider the new metal materials being used:
