On 8th April I attend Craftivist collective workshop at Sketchbook popup shop, 10 Newburgh street. Read more about that here :) From this I was asked to do a mini workshop in between courses of a meal at 'Make an Impact' at the centre for unity in welwygn garden city as part of a Y4UW weekend of which I used the concept of craftivist collective but using paper rather than fabric, and for giving to someone you know, there were many outcomes from a headpiece to a flower. The Idea for this came after my friend Vanessa Yeo made me an origami flower with the words 'Happy Vicky Day' pasted across the top and put it up outside my flat door. This definitely 'made an impact' on me because i looovvveeeddd itttt!!!! It tied in perfectly with the event in question as well as the craftivist collective concept of home made and making a statement.
The 'Make an Impact' event was all about different ways we can make an impact in our societies and even the world, politically and socially. I took part in a make shift video advert for this weekend filmed around London then at the actual weekend we made videos in groups and our groups decided on the theme of SMILING :) Making many paper smiles we went around the city and got people involved in the making of our video. All videos were premiered in their rough edit at the evening meal and were all AWESOME. The final films are yet to come so il post them up when they do. Interesting times, fun weekend, amazing people :)
