I've just handed in an essay, of which I chose the question on spectacle and modernity. I looked specifically at the hats of Philip Treacy, because it was looking at his work that made me realise just how spectacular a hat can be, and I now know I must learn how to make hats. I love the book 'when Philip met Isabella’, full of illustrations and photographs of Isabella Blow and Philip Treacys love of hats.
Philip Treacy has some hats on display in Selfridges in their currently themed Alice in Wonderland department, which also had the hats from Tim Burtons 2010 film, designed by Colleen Atwood, an amazing costume designer.
