The maharaja exhibition at the V&A was very vibrant and luxurious. There were big life size elephant and horse models from the indian precessions of the maharaja-king with extravagantly decorated umbrellas, fans, rugs etc and metal work. The jewellery and turban decorations containing saphires, diamonds, gold and emeralds were beautiful. Textiles was used a lot throughout the royal courts it seemed as it added to the 'royal splendour' no matter where, including out in the courtyards. Everyone should have a touch of splendor in their lives!
